(Cat) Montgomery Gibson

Owner, 9 Corners Sports and Holistic Medical Center
“Health is the reward for the right action.”
I help decision-makers infuse Taoism, Zen and Buddhism into their leadership, business models, risk assessment and resource management for greater effectiveness than western models currently provide in today’s global competitive sphere.

I bring to life the sage wisdom of Confucius, Sun Tzu’s Art of War, Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching and others to give progressive Americans the insight and advantage that propelled Chinese emperors, warriors and dynasties to soaring heights of success.

I began my career developing competitive strategies in advertising agencies working with over 200 companies ranging from blue chips to small businesses including: Disney, HP, Coors, Mattel, EA Sports, Hasbro, Fujitsu, Chevy’s, TiVo, Peterbilt, Lucasfilm, Skky Vodka. I retired from my corporate executive career and founded 9 Corners Sports and Holistic Medical Center with my husband, Randy, to provide our community with effective, affordable healthcare options.

Once 9 Corners was established, I studied with the Dalai Lama receiving his practitioner teachings. Enthralled, I earned my masters degree in the field of Buddhist and Taoist philosophies. I have the honor of being one of few Americans to receive teachings from renowned Taoist master, Dr. Yi Wu – Taiwan’s Treasured Scholar. Together, we are completing a book entitled, Ch’an and Lao-Chuang, written to deepen understanding for Buddhists and Zen monks.

Today, I write articles and speak about bringing Taoism and Zen into a fresh style of leadership and management for companies ready for a more global view in the 21st century. My passion is bringing forth Taoist wisdom providing insight and solutions to modern day challenges.

Thomas Attardi

Therapeutic & Integrative Bodywork
“Everybody deserves relief.”
Tom has been working in the health and healing rehabilitation field since 1992.He developed many of his training skills working in Chiropractic, & PT clinics.Tom is a certified Master Bodyworker as well as certified in Neurokinetic Therapy, Advance Myofascial Therapy as well Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (PDTR). Tom uses any modalities of therapeutic and integrative bodywork to help speed up recovery and comfort and to restore structural integrity and balance.

What Is Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT), and How Does It Work?
NeuroKinetic Therapy is based on the premise that when an injury has occurred, certain muscles shut down or become inhibited, forcing other muscles to become overworked. This compensation pattern can create pain or tightness. By applying light pressure that the client then resists, the practitioner can evaluate the strength or weakness of each muscle, revealing the sources of injury and retraining the client’s body to remove the compensation patterns—reprogramming the body at the neural level. NeuroKinetic Therapy is a completely new concept in bodywork. It is based on a chiropractic technique called Applied Kinesiology, and the Touch for Health approach to holistic wellness. If you are familiar with these modailites, think about crossing them with the level of detail and expertise you might expect in a physical therapy setting, and you might have a pretty good idea about the kind of work it is.

Essentially muscles or tissue can become weak and “shut down” following injury, while others become forced to work overtime and make up their shortcomings. This concept is known as the body’s “muscle compensation patterns.” These patterns are observed in people experiencing noticeable weakness and pain, but also often appear to some degree in those who are generally healthy and strong.

Movement patterns may be faulty or dysfunctional, and cause pain due to imbalance, overuse or overloading of tissues. Pain itself is not always at the site of dysfunction — it’s simply a result of faulty compensations.

The goal of NKT, therefore, is to reteach corrected muscle movements. A NKT practitioner is similar to a physical therapist in that they help patients to practice movements over and over again using proper form.

“All within us is connected; we are connected to all”
I began studying massage therapy to learn more about the body systems and to bring that knowledge into my fitness training practice. What I ended up learning was so much more profound. The bodywork I perform takes into account the connectivity of the whole self as well as the interconnection that exists during a therapeutic session together. Having worked with athletes, elders, children, oncology patients, pregnant women, “massage newbies” and everyone in between, I’ve learned that a nurturing presence combined with an in depth scientific knowledge of the body has the potential to heal anybody. Utilizing mainly, myofascial release therapy, trigger point work and results from functional movement assessments, I address the body’s root issue and branch out to achieve effective & lasting results.
